Information collected during the investigation will determine the appropriate course of action. In most cases this will lead to either no further action until the next eye-check or to the fun of a new pair of specs and/or contact lenses. In some cases it may lead to further medical investigation and referral to a medical practitioner, such as your GP.
Here is a breakdown of the eye exam
After identifying your needs, the eye examination has three distinct stages;

Vision tests to determine your vision and deteremine your prescription. - Visual acuity with a letter chart - Retinoscopy - Determining your distance prescription - Determining any extra help needed for near

Eye movement checked to consider how well your eye muscles co-ordinate and work. - Cover test - Motility test

Eye health examinations check for signs of eye disease and some general health problems such as high blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes. Full screening for all people at risk of Glaucoma. - Ophthalmoscopy - External eye and structures - Tonometry - Visual fields
An eye examination is the foundation for good eye health and our Optometrists will look after you as they would a family member. With many different ways to assess eyesight, they will select the most appropriate ways to examine your vision and vision needs.
These tests are just a few of over a 100 different ways we can assess your eyesight;
The Slit Lamp - A precision instrument used to look at the exterior and when used with a Volk lens to look at the interior of the eye. With up to X40 Magnification, We leave nothing to chance. Duochrome - Used to aid the fine-tuning process of your prescription. Cross Cylinder - To maximise vision and investigate for astigmatism. The Snellen Chart - Not just letters. Letters scientifically organised to measure your vision.
