Myopia Management
Making the future for our children that little bit better
Under Construction - further details coming soon

The theory and the practical
There are no guarantees in life, but that doesn't stop us from making the most of things available to us. Over the last 20 years there has been a lot of research and experience in helping to control the progression of myopia. This page is the story so far and hopes to give you some pointers on other things that can help to slow the progression of myopia.
Head Outside
Encouraging young people to spend more time outside sounds very simple but merely locking them outside is probably not sensible. Encouraging outside interests or sports I think is far better. Watching or playing a sport makes little difference to your eyes, but playing sounds more beneficial overall.
Hold reading further away
We know that holding reading very close seems to stimulate myopia progression, so keeping reading matters that bit further away is helpful. Arm length determines where exactly but further is better.
Limiting Screen Time
A hard one to achieve in recent years as we live very much in a digital world. That world demands our time looking at a screen. I always believe that encouraging rather than discouraging a behaviour is more productive. So thinking about other distractions maybe like swimming or visiting friends or a walk in the park are all ways to reduce screen time.
