OCT Options

We'd like to show you some of the featured scans that the OCT can do. There are many more with individual emphasis but in the interests of time, I have listed the principle ones.
We do not perform them in isolation, but are happy to link it to an eye examination or consultation. None of the procedures are traumatic and they only take seconds to carry out when in focus and position. On occasions carrying out more than one may be advisable.

3D Wide
This is a general purpose screening scan for looking across a large area of the retina. It includes fundus photography, OCT scan and analysis to include macula thickness and Optic Nerve profile useful in Glaucoma

OCT Macula
The macula area is the principle area of the eye responsible for your clarity in vision. We want to make sure this area remains as healthy as possible and detailed look can help in Macula Degeneration, Myopic Degeneration and Toxic Maculopathy such as Hydroxychloroquine Maculopathy.

OCT Glaucoma
Usually age related but a careful assessment and monitoring for this condition with an OCT can bring forward the diagnosis of Glaucoma by 2-3 years. We think this is a valuable way to keep the vision you have as you get older.

OCT - Corneal Thickness - Pachymetry
The machines used for measuring Eye Pressure make some assumptions about the eyes tested. One is how thick or thin they are. If one is looking at Glaucoma and asking for as much information as possible, it is helpful to know the thickness of the cornea. This involves the measurement in the central area.

The image above is the cross-section of the angle that the cornea makes at its junction with the Iris. This angle sometimes is crucial in Glaucoma risk.
